Be
a Hero for a Better World ... Every Act of Kindness Makes
a Difference!
WISH
Every
day in the news we're hearing how rampant violence
is in our communities, both here in America and around
the world. I believe that the establishement of a
United States Department of Peace can greatly help
alleviate the many problems that we hear about on
a daily basis. Our children deserve so much better.
It is our job right here and now to build a better
world. By establishing a US Department of Peace we
are doing just that. Please get involved ... It's
up to us to be the change that we wish for and the
time is now to co-create it.
-- Paula Abdul
If
you wish success in life, make perseverance your bosom
friend,
experience your wise counselor, caution your elder
brother and hope your guardian genius.
-- Joseph Addison
One
of the most liberating tools for peacebuilders is
learning to let go. We carry so many burdens with
us, from our childhood throughout our lives. We carry
hurts about wrongs that were done to us. We carry
regrets about things we wish we had or hadn't done.
We hide these memories, but the anger and hurt and
regret can influence the way we think and interact
without our even knowing it.
-- Robert
Alan Silverstein
"Do
you wish for a better world? You are not alone! There
is so much going on to help make this world a better
place that the mainstream media never shows us. Many
diverse movements for change have been converging
into a more holistic, global movement for a better
world. This emerging movement does not belong to any
one group or organization, but together we are helping
create a more peaceful, just and sustainable world,
one act of compassion at a time... Every act of compassion
makes a difference! Do One Thing for a better world.
Together we make a world of difference!"
-- Robert
Alan Silverstein
"Human
history has been recorded as a succession of wars
and changing empires. But a ray of hope has been
carried forth throughout the ages by dreamers who
have envisioned a more peaceful, just and sustainable
world. The Magna Carta, the US Constitution and
the Universal Declaration of Human Rights were quantum
leaps forward in our collective quest for a better
world. We still have far to go, but we can help
create that better world countless dreamers have
imagined, wished for and endeavored to make come
true. Every moment has brought us to this moment.
We are the ones we've been waiting for to manifest
our shared peacetopian dream."
-- Robert
Alan Silverstein
Every
Day is an opportunity for all who value spirituality
in their lives to connect and unite in our wish for
a more peaceful, just and sustainable world based
on values grounded in our deeper spiritual connection
to each other and the world around us. -- Robert
Alan Silverstein
When
a moment is carrying your thoughts and emotions somewhere
you don't want to go, stop, take a deep breath and
slowly whisper "May Peace Prevail On Earth" a few
times. This simple phrase will center you, and remind
you that you are never alone in your wish for a better
world. At any moment many others are sharing this
universal wish all across the globe.

There
is so much going on for a better world all around
us that the mainstream media never shares. Throughout
history, there have been many social movements for
change ... for democracy, for the abolition of slavery,
women's rights, for peace, for the environment ...
Many advancements have been made, but each of these
causes is just part of larger wish for a more peaceful,
just and sustainable world. These diverse movements
for thousands of different causes are beginning to
converge and a more holistic movement --what UNESCO
has described as a 'global movement for a culture
of peace' -- is beginning to emerge. The Culture of
Peace Movementis helping to unite the strengths of
existing organizations and individuals so that creating
a culture of peace really is now possible. -- Robert
Alan Silverstein
Those
who wish for a more peaceful, just and sustainable
world are helping to make ending world hunger a major
priority... Together we can end hunger.
-- Robert
Alan Silverstein
Sadness
is a natural reaction to awakening to see the way
things are. But we can either become lost in our sadness,
or decide to use this awakening to inspire us to work
to change things to the way we wish they could be.

Alan Silverstein

There
are three ways of dealing with difference:
domination, compromise, and integration.
By domination only one side gets what it wants;

if we wish to accomplish in the next 15 years what

As we watch the sun go down, evening after evening,
through the smog across the poisoned waters of our
native earth, we must ask ourselves seriously whether
we really wish some future universal historian on
another planet to say about us: "With all their genius
and with all their skill, they ran out of foresight
and air and food and water and ideas," or, "They went
on playing politics until their world collapsed around
them."
~ U
Thant
As
a single footstep will not make a path on the earth,
so a single thought will not make a pathway in the
mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again
and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think
over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate
our lives.
-- Henry
David Thoreau
I
went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately,

Today,
I wish that the millions of displaced people would
be able to return with the necessary conditions of
safety and dignity, that people in exile could return

truth is revealed and justice exists.
