REINVENT
|
We're
not trying to reinvent the wheel; for any environmental
organization to claim sole responsibility for any
kind of victory is insane, because everybody attacks
these problems as a group.

In
order to keep anything cultural, logical, or ideological,
you have to reinvent the reality of it.

Mentoring
brings us together – across generation, class, and often
race – in a manner that forces us to acknowledge our
interdependence, to appreciate, in Martin Luther King,
Jr.’s words, that ‘we are caught in an inescapable network
of mutuality, tied to a single garment of destiny.’
In this way, mentoring enables us to participate in
the essential but unfinished drama of reinventing community,
while reaffirming that there is an important role for
each of us in it.
-- Marc Freedman |
"If
you look back in history, you will find the core mission
of public education in America was to create places
of civic virtue for our children and for our society.
As education undergoes the rigors of re-examination
and the need for reinvention, it is cruicial to remember
that the key role of public schools is to preserve
democracy and, that as battered as we might be, our
mission is central to the future of this county."
-- Paul D. Houston, Executive director of the American
Association of School Administrators
When
things are bad, it's the best time to reinvent yourself.
-- George Lopez

We
must reinvent a future free of blinders so that we
can choose from real options.
-- David
