ORGANIZE
It's
crucial to understand that as a society, we can reorganize.
We can reorganize socially, politically, and economically,
and we can reorganize according to our values.

Although
the Internet can be a maze of information overload,
this social networking tool is also being used to
inspire and organize an emerging global movement for
a better world. --
Robert
Alan Silverstein
There
is so much going on for a better world all around
us that the mainstream media never shares. Throughout
history, there have been many social movements for
change ... for democracy, for the abolition of slavery,
women's rights, for peace, for the environment ...
Many advancements have been made, but each of these
causes is just part of larger wish for a more peaceful,
just and sustainable world. These diverse movements
for thousands of different causes are beginning to
converge and a more holistic movement --what UNESCO
has described as a 'global movement for a culture
of peace' -- is beginning to emerge. The Culture
of Peace Movement is helping to unite the strengths
of existing organizations and individuals so that
creating a culture of peace really is now possible.

Alan Silverstein

"It is clear that military force and our policy
of preemption are alone insufficient to make us safe.
But help is on the way. Legislation has been proposed
to create a US Department of Peace. In the propsed
Department of Peace it would organize our present
system into one conscious effort to improve humanity
in achieving peace, where true safety lies."

Cronkite

Older, younger, anyone can help. We've learned that
our legislators listen, and people with passionate and
thoughtful concerns make a difference every day. We've
had constituents initiate legislation, lobby for it,
organize meetings and events, and, of course, call,
mail, e-mail and visit legislators to express their
views. It's really great to see how much difference
that individuals can make.

What
can Labor do for itself? The answer is not difficult.
Labor can organize, it can unify; it can consolidate
its forces. This done, it can demand and command.

Today
in America, unions have a secure place in our industrial
life. Only a handful of reactionaries harbor the ugly
thought of breaking unions and depriving working men
and women of the right to join the union of their
choice. I have no use for those -- regardless of their
political party -- who hold some vain and foolish
dream of spinning the clock back to days when organized
labor was huddled, almost as a hapless mass. Only
a fool would try to deprive working men and women
of the right to join the union of their choice.
-- Dwight
D. Eisenhower

I
believe that when people have an occupation that allows
them to provide for their families, the social dimension
of human nature will emerge instinctively and lead
people to help and organize others less privileged.

children are not born gangsters. In fact, they have

the kids who are in these gangs are leaders, very
charismatic and good organizers."

Citizens
across the United States are now uniting in a great
cause to establish a Department of Peace, seeking
nothing less than the transformation of our society,
to make non-violence an organizing principle, to make
war archaic through creating a paradigm shift in our
culture for human development, for economic and political
justice and for violence control.
-- Dennis
Kucinich

Let
the workers organize. Let the toilers assemble.
Let their crystallized voice proclaim their injustices
and demand their privileges. Let all thoughtful
citizens sustain them, for the future of Labor is
the future of America.

L. Lewis

The
students I've been with these twenty years are looking
for a world where it becomes a little easier to
love and a lot harder to hate, where learning nonviolence
means that we dedicate our hearts, minds, time,
and money to a commitment that the force of love,
the force of truth, the force of justice, and the
force of organized resistance to corrupt power are
seen as sane and the force of fists, guns, armies,
and bombs insane.
-- Colman
McCarthy

“Kids don’t have a little brother working in the coal
mine, they don’t have a little sister coughing her
lungs out in the looms of the big mill towns of the
Northeast. Why? Because we organized; we broke the
back of the sweatshops in this country; we have child
labor laws. Those were not benevolent gifts from enlightened
management. They were fought for, they were bled for,
they were died for by working people, by people like
us. Kids ought to know that. That’s why I sing these
songs. That’s why I tell these stories, dammit. No
root, no fruit!”

Organize,

go on after another; but get something.
