Peace
is the beauty of life. It is sunshine. It is the smile
of a child, the love of a mother, the joy of a father,
the togetherness of a family. It is the advancement
of man, the victory of a just cause, the triumph of
truth. Peace is all of these and more and more.

The
lack of emotional security of our American young people
is due, I believe, to their isolation from the larger
family unit. No two people - no mere father and mother
- as I have often said, are enough to provide emotional
security for a child. He needs to feel himself one in
a world of kinfolk, persons of variety in age and temperament,
and yet allied to himself by an indissoluble bond which
he cannot break if he could, for nature has welded him
into it before he was born.

S. Buck |

Some
of us believe in communism,
Some of us believe in capitalism,
Some of us believe in spiritualism,
Some of us believe in materialism
Some mothers believe in heavy dandy,
Some fathers believe in understanding.
Some of us believe in total freedom,
Some of us believe in laying the rules on.
But the children believe in friends,
For the children of the world,
Every boy and girl,
All they'll know is what we teach 'em,
Most of us fail when we try to reach 'em
For the children believe in having friends

Of
all the rocks upon which we build our lives, we are
reminded today that family is the most important.
And
we are called to recognize and honor how critical
every father is to that foundation. They are teachers
and coaches. They are mentors and role models. They
are examples of success and the men who constantly
push us toward it. But if we are honest with ourselves,
we'll admit that what too many fathers also are is
missing – missing from too many lives and too many
homes. They have abandoned their responsibilities,
acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations
of our families are weaker because of it.
-- Barack
Obama

The
guys who fear becoming fathers don't understand that fathering
is not something perfect men do,
but something that perfects the man. The end product of
child raising is not the child but the parent.
-- Frank Pittman
Sometimes
the poorest man leaves his children the richest inheritance.

What
a father says to his children is not heard by the world,
but it will be heard for posterity.

The fundamental defect of fathers
is that they want their children to be a credit to
