ILLINOIS
The
International Day of Peace has been a focal point for community-uniting
and peace-inspiring events since its inception in 1981. If all of the
events and activities that have taken place for the International Day
of Peace over the years were to occur on this International Day of Peace,
it would be the greatest day in all of history. This
ongoing pictoral archive represents just a tiny fraction of the hundreds
of thousands of events and activities that have taken place. It is meant
to inspire you to organize or participate in a peace-building event
in your community on the International Day of Peace or during the countdown
to Peace.

Students
at the Rock Paper Scissors Art Academy celebrated the International

takes place at the Keeling Puri Peace Plaza to honor the rich cultural
diversity of the community.

SPRINGFIELD,

2005- The
Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis and hospital
executives had a Peace Day ceremony around the Peace Pole that was
dedicated by the sisters in 1988. Then they posed before flags of
the nations where Hospital Sisters have served in their 160 year
history.
