Peace Pole Planting, Sun. Sept. 25

COME HELP PLANT A PEACE POLE* at AHIMSA HAMAKUA

The First Official Gathering at this Vegan, Peace Sanctuary

Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005 (In Conjunction with the U.N. International Day of Peace, Sept. 21st) Ceremonial Planting of Peace Pole 2 P.M.

Bring something to share if you wish: Rocks, Flowers, etc. for the Altar to be Decorated; Poems, Songs, Instruments, Thoughts etc. for the Sharing Circle; A Chair and an Umbrella

Ahimsa is a Sanskrit word meaning Compassion for all Life, so this is a Sanctuary where animals will not be asked to give their lives for the pleasures of our taste buds, nor asked to give us their body products, often through conditions of great suffering. The violence of killing other sentient beings will not overshadow the peaceful, loving energy here.

As George Bernard Shaw said, We are sick of war! We don’t want to fight, and yet we gorge ourselves on the dead! The animals are my friends, and I don’t eat my friends!

After the ceremonies and sharing (about 4 P.M.) there will be a VEGAN POTLUCK. Vegan food an be wonderfully delicious. If you desire, bring a potluck item (no meat, fish, dairy, eggs or honey.) Ahimsa Hamakua is drug-free (no alcohol, please).

We will try to generate NO TRASH, so Please Bring Your Own Non-Disposable Table Setting including: plate, eating utensils, cup and cloth napkin.)

Children and friends are welcome. Stay for the Sing-Along after the potluck.

Ahimsa Hamakua is about 2 miles from Umauma Falls, about 16 miles north of Hilo.

Call Sharron (after 9 PM or on weekends) for directions and info re the road: 987-6939
