INTRODUCTION
Samasevaya
is a government registered peace organization in Sri Lanka organized
the international Peace day celebrations on behalf of May Peace
Prevail on Earth - USA. The program held on 21st Sept. 2005 at
the Anuradhapura city in Sri Lanka.
RADIO
PROGRAM
A
popular radio program call SUBAHARATHI made provisions to talk about
international day of Peace at 7.30 A.M to 8.30 A.M on 21.09.2005.
This program was broadcast by the Sri Lanka Broadcasting corporation.
We have invited Ven. Mawathawewa Gunananda thero, Samson Jayasinghe
and Chandrarathna Bandara to participate in the one hour discussion
program on related Peace issues. A few radio listeners were also
participate in this radio program by telephone. They raised a lot
of issues related to Peace process in Sri Lanka. At the end of the
program we were able to learn that there is a big role to do by the
civil socially of Sri Lanka towards Peace building process of the
country.
PRAYERS
FOR PEACE
On
21st September at 6.30 p.m. we organize a prayer session in front
of SAMAVIHARA Buddhist temple in the Anuradhapura town. Buddhist,
Christian, Islamic and Hindu Priests participated in the event to
pray for peace.

priests and five hundred people belonging to all four religions participated.
We prayed "May Peace Prevail on Earth"
LIGHTING
LAMPS FOR PEACE
The
largest peoples rally was organized to light the lamps on 21st September
in the middle of the town. More than 800 people took part in this
event Religious community, Political, Community, Government sector,
Non government sector representatives took part in the event.
