CAMEROON
(2005 World Peace Prayer Society Report)

Rev. Patrice Kitoun, Yaounde

I give thanks to God for giving us power and means to realise this project in Cameroon. Jesus is marvelous, and does not confuse the thoughts of his children. Thank you Jesus for the mission of peace that you have given your children working in the program of world peace. When I was preparing in prayers for the organisation of the events in Cameroon, I was talking to pastors who had to assist this program in prayers, things became more and more difficult. The first point was discouragement of pastors, when I explained to them that there was no finance reserved for the ceremony. Secondly, the government wanted us to have an office first in the capital with the address of our NGO. I was expected to pay six months rents for the office which was $ 1800. Thirdly sensitisation had to be made through communication, all members of government, companies, diplomats, the army, international organisations had to be officially informed of the ceremonies through writing.

I decided to continue to see the ceremony succeed in Cameroon without any source of finance.

I prepared the conference on the 20th. The army, the population, and a high personality in the government who is a philanthropist called Prof. Mendo ze were all invited.  The conference was wonderful. Authorities sent the police and other personalities to attend the conference which had as theme, peace and non violence. I thank the government delegate to the Yaounde Urban Council, who gave me the hall for the conference free of charge. I also thank the divisional officer who authorised the ceremony, and thank the delegate of security who sent the police for the ceremony.

On the 21st Sept we began with a symbolic march of about 3 km singing the peace anthem. I brought a powerful TV channel in my country, Canal 2, to cover the event and to broadcast it 48 hours in the 10 provinces of Cameroon.

The army, diplomats, and invitees came and met us but outside, and this was a very difficult moment for me, since I had to explain to them that there was no money to pay for the hall. I called the state protocol from the ministry of external relations for us to decide what to do. I told them that we had to go on with the ceremony even outside of the hall, so that the day should not be without an event.

We started with our national anthem and the peace anthem composed by the Professor, Mendo ze and sang by his national singers. The UNDP representative Mrs. Sophie de Caen sent Mrs. Anne Sang of the Information Service to assist us. After my welcome message, I explained the activities of our association the WPPS, and we had a minute of silence at 12 noon while raising the flags of the nations. Mrs. Anne Sang read the speech of the Secretary General of the United Nations. We presented symbolically the Peace Pole, which is now planted in my residence. This ended the ceremony.

I have peace and joy in my heart for accomplishing God's work. I want to take this opportunity to thank my director Deborah Moldow for contributing effectively for success in Cameroon. I thank my brother Mr Nickolai Parker for all the personal support and intervention at the level of the UN office in Cameroon. Special thanks to sister. Bette who gave me many materials, and marvelous flags which she sent to me. I bless my brother Dr. D’Angelo who is leading the army of vigil for peace. God bless him. God bless all of you.

Good news, the WPPS will be having a presidential decree to operate officially like Care International, Peace Corps, Unicef in Cameroon. Secondly all materials like cars, communication equipment and necessities for our success in Cameroon will be imported custom duty free.

The pictures are as follows: the first pictures are those of the conference of the 20th, where we were in the hall with the minister. The pictures where we and the children were with flags and the board are those of the symbolic peace march on the 21st.

The pictures where there are many people, and in which I am dressed in a red jacket is that of the peace ceremony and all the activities of the International Day of Peace of the UN. The lady dressed in red with whom I am is Mrs. Anne Sang, the UN Information Service representative in Cameroon.

I love Jesus my master and I love doing his work because real peace comes from him.

God bless all of you. May peace prevail in the USA. May peace prevail on earth.
