SOUTH DAKOTA , USA
(2003 World Peace Prayer Society Report)

ABERDEEN, SOUTH DAKOTA, USA

We started our peace prayer a week ahead of time with a peace Pilgrimage by car. The Pilgrimage involved taking a group of 15 retired sisters to the Catholic churches in Aberdeen, South Dakota on September 14. We prayed for peace at each of the sites. One site had a new painting of the Blessed Mother, another had just torn down their old school and the sisters were interested in seeing the big hole in the ground. We also visited the hospital, which has a new chapel and then we went to see the new statue of the Blessed Mother by the high school. We ended our little pilgrimage by saying the final prayer at the Convent Chapel. The Sisters kept their little prayer sheets so they could pray for peace all week long.

Then on September 21, the Presentation College students had Mass in our chapel. We had prepared a welcome which involved explaining how the Presentation Sisters all over the world were keeping this a day of prayer for peace by each community being assigned a period of time according to the time belt that they lived in. We were assigned from 10-12 noon. At no time was the world not being prayed for by Presentation Sisters. The sisters also had prayers for the faithful, which included the peace theme. Father's homily also incorporated the peace theme.

God Bless You,
Sister Madonna Pierret
