DHAMMA
PARK FOUNDATION held a ceremony opened by the Deputy governor of Lumphun
Province, N. Thailand. After a traditional welcome with a large Gong
and dancers, student Monks and 200 students and teachers from 16 local
primary and secondary schools were led by a Marching band in a ceremony
around their Peace Pole. There was also a Children for Peace Painting
competition, a poetry competition called "Poetry - a Pathway to Peace",
and a Dhamma Bicycle Race with bikes decorated with The Wheel of Right
Conduct (The Noble Eightfold Path) in the front and the UN Peace Wheel
at the rear, in which the slowest of the 35 contestants was the winner.
There was also a presentation of Charades by a group who have been
attending Drama Workshops incorporating Peace Studies at the Dhamma
Park Gallery, Games, Prizegivings and a Farewell Address
