(1968-)

birthdate: October 17
birthplace:
Trenchtown, Jamaica

Ziggy Marley is a Grammy-winning Jamaican musician and the oldest son of Rita and Bob Marley, reggae's most famous legendary singer. Ziggy began performing at 11 when his father brought him and his siblings into the studio to perform the hit single, "Children Playing in the Streets." The four siblings continued to perform together as the Melody Makers for the next two decades until Ziggy launched a solo career. Like his famous father, Ziggy has also been actively involved in many humanitarian causes. He was named a Goodwill Youth Ambassador with the United Nations, worked with UNICEF's Say Yes To Children campaign, created the nonprofit organization U.R.G.E (Unlimited Resources Giving Enlightenment), to help disadvantaged people around the world.
