Oscar-winning superstar Angelina Jolie's life was changed when she made the movie, Beyond Borders, about a woman who "wakes up" and leaves her ordinary life to become an international aid worker for the United Nations. The script opened her eyes to the state of the world and she now passionately dedicates her off-screen life to working for a better world. She is a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and is working on the UN Millennium Development Goals campaign to end poverty and the campaign to ban landmines. In 2003 she was given a Citizen of the World Award by the United Nations Correspondents Association.
