has received over 26 Grammy Award nominations and has sold more than 40 million
records worldwide. She has been involved in numerous humanitarian causes, including
working with Partnership for a Drug-Free America, the Million Family March and
the M.A.C. AIDS Foundation. For her dedication to humanitarian work she received
Rock the Vote's Patrick Lippert Award, Rolling Stone's Do Something Award and
a lifetime service award by 100 Black Men.
