The
Right Livelihood Award was established in 1980 by Jakob von Uexkull as THE PRIZE
FOR OUTSTANDING VISION AND WORK ON BEHALF OF OUR PLANET AND ITS PEOPLE. Viewed
by many as the "The Alternative Nobel Prize" this award seeks to highlight
the efforts of those who are addressing crucial issues that concern the 21st century,
and to provide inspiration for today's heroes for a better world. There are more
than 100 Right Livelihood laureates - some of which are featured on this website.
