7. PLEASE, JUST LET ME SLEEP. MAYBE I'LL WAKE UP FROM THIS CRAZY DREAM I HEARD SOMEONE CALL LIFE...



The sun was getting pretty low in the sky, and I could feel my stomach protesting loudly. So loudly, in fact, that people passing by me, as I stood alone on the sidewalk, covered their ears and refused to look at me.

Since I had no money, and I didn't feel like scrounging in garbage cans for food -- at least not yet -- I wished the sun would set so I could fall asleep and forget about my hunger. And maybe when I woke up, I'd be out of this crazy dream.

I peered up at the sun which shone brightly in the sky. It had no intention of setting just now. My stomach yelled louder and louder. I ran toward a lamppost and climbed up a few feet. Then, reaching out, I grabbed the sun, and pulled it below the horizon. Sleep suddenly shot over me like a wave, and I drifted off right there on the lamppost.
